Fernando Sindu

Leading Jakarta’s creative culinary scene, chef Fernando is the proud mastermind behind Benedict, a gourmet cafe and restaurant specializing in all-day breakfast and brunch, and SevenFriday Space, the first lifestyle store-lounge-cafe-bar concept store by SevenFriday and also Restaurant Canting, an uber-hip brasserie at the rooftop mall Galeria Yogyakarta.

His love for food led him to enroll at the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, New York. After that, he worked at several great places in New York, including Brasserie 8 1/2, 1 * Oceana, and Boqueria Restaurant as a Sous Chef. He came back to Jakarta in 2011 started his career in Jakarta with a private dining service named G48 in 2012, which was famous for its first pop-up brunch concept, serving customers every weekend in different places with delicious American brunch menus. He was also part of Umabo (short for umami bowl), which was an Asian take on fast food, serving unique rice bowls and burgers. He is currently just open his 5th outlet with another collaboration with union group to handle the Cork and Screw country club brand.
